Helping moms-to-be quit smoking Pregnant Smokers Kit

The Delaware Division of Public Health Tobacco Prevention and Control Program identified pregnant women as a priority population to target with a new Delaware Quitline program campaign. Healthy Beginnings, a state-run program for pregnant women, was experiencing a higher rate of women who were pregnant and smoking than the average adult smoking rate in Delaware. AB&C customized the distract-a-pack tool specifically for pregnant smokers to help them get through the 3–5 minutes that the average nicotine craving lasts. The packs were bundled with posters for placement in examination rooms and informational booklets about the dangers of smoking while pregnant and were sent to healthcare providers throughout the state. Since the campaign's launch about a year ago, the Delaware Quitline has seen an increase in the number of pregnant women seeking help to quit smoking.

The Gary Papa Run is really taking off Gary Papa run

The Foundation for Breast & Prostate Health (FBPH) holds a run every year on Father’s Day, with the proceeds going towards prostate cancer research. Beginning with the 2008 run, AB&C created Run4YourLife.org, which has since been changed to garypaparun.com to honor 6ABC Action News Sports Director Gary Papa. Papa died in 2009 following a battle with prostate cancer.

The website allows runners to register online, sends email blasts encouraging others to sign up and asking for donations, and creates a database so runners can be invited to attend the event the next year. Pre-registration continues to account for the majority of runners, representing 81% in 2010 and 2011. This year’s run saw 4,060 runners, the highest participation since its inception in 2003.
